For me, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect and put some real thought into what I'm really thankful for. This year I'm thankful for my new kidney and for not being on dialysis.

Some 15+ years ago I was diagnosed with ADPKD (Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease). ADPKD is one of the most common, life-threatening genetic diseases. In ADPKD, fluid-filled cysts develop and enlarge in both kidneys, eventually leading to kidney failure. It is the fourth leading cause of kidney failure and more than 50 percent of people with ADPKD will develop kidney failure by age 50. Once a person has kidney failure, dialysis or a transplant are the only options.

I was lucky enough to receive a kidney transplant mid-2020. My wife, who was not a direct transplant match donated one of her kidneys and kicked off a 5-way kidney transplant chain with the result being, I received a kidney. Now, three years post-transplant everything is stable, and I wanted to give back. Although I can't give a kidney, I can give this game and so proceeds from the sale of this digital version of the game will be donated to the PKD Foundation (pkdcure.org).
